A Short Film by STND180
Book of 180 Vol 1: Vanity is a ~12 minute supernatural short film accompanying the debut EP of Chicago artist Stino180. The film follows a man desperate to escape his woes who learns of a mysterious book that gives him untold knowledge, but with a price. As the book warps him and costs him everything he loves, the line between what he wanted and what he became disappears.
The tone of the film feels like a combination of Paid in Full and The Shining. Grounded realism meets psychological horror. Practical Chicago locations with AI-enhanced post production for the supernatural sequences.
This is a two-day shoot at the end of August and beginning of September 2025. The production has a complete storyboard, shot list, character breakdowns, and generation guide already developed. We are looking for people who want to be part of something with a real vision.

CASTSupporting role. 6 scenes. The emotional anchor of the film. She sees what's happening before anyone else does and she's right every time. Warmth turning to grief.
The Watcher / Vessel
CASTMinor role. 2 scenes. A man whose body is briefly possessed by a supernatural guardian. Two distinct states: unnaturally composed and then confused and disoriented. Unique physical performance.
The Injector
CASTMinor role. 2 scenes. Fights the lead for the book inside a car. Intense, physical, desperate. Must be comfortable with tight-space choreography and a tense, climactic confrontation.
The Buyer / Driver
CASTMinor role. 2 scenes. Calm, clinical, deliberate. Someone who has done this before. Voice matters as much as face.
Extras — Friend Group
CAST2-3 people for one afternoon shoot. Playing the girlfriend's friends in a brief exterior scene. No experience required.
Extras — Restaurant Background
CAST2-3 people for a half day interior shoot. Background atmosphere in a restaurant scene. No experience required.
Cult Members
CAST3-5 people for a night exterior shoot. Robed figures — no face shown. Must be physically capable of running. Choreographed sequence. Commitment to the night shoot required.
Production Assistant
CREW2 positions. On-set support across all shoot days. Organized, reliable, communicative. Film student experience preferred but not required.
Sound Mixer / Boom Operator
CREWOne person to handle production audio across shoot days. Boom mic operation and basic mixing. School equipment available to rent, including a boom mic and DJI mics for personal/lav use. Experience with on-set audio required.
